Budget Estimates
- The non-debt receipts and the total expenditure are estimated as ₹36.5 lakh crore and ₹53.5 lakh crore respectively. The Centre’s net tax receipts are estimated at ₹28.7 lakh crore.
- The gross market borrowings are estimated at ₹17.2 lakh crore and the net market borrowings from dated securities are estimated at ₹11.7 lakh crore.
- The Revised Estimates of the non-debt receipts are ₹34 lakh crore of which the Centre’s net tax receipts are ₹26.7 lakh crore.
- The Revised Estimate of the total expenditure is ₹49.6 lakh crore, of which the capital expenditure is about ₹11 lakh crore.
- The fiscal deficit in BE 2026-27 is estimated to be 4.3 percent of GDP.
Budget 2025-26, core to the vision of Viksit Bharat @ 2047, allocates INR11.21 lakh crore for the infrastructure sector. To encourage higher private participation, the government has proposed various measures. City Economic Regions
Govt planned to invest ₹ 5000 crore per city econmic region over 5 year.
NEW DELHI: (Feb 1) Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Sunday announced a major push to strengthen urban growth by focusing on the development of city
economic regions (CERs), with a proposed allocation of Rs 5,000 crore per region over five years to implement their plans through a “challenge mode.”
Tier-2, Tier-3 and temple towns to be in focus.
The financing approach will be challenge mode, meaning reform-cum-results-based, where cities meet specific criteria/benchmarks to receive funds the Budget 2026 introduces a structured plan to boost economic activity in cities and their surrounding regions through dedicated funding, performance-linked
mechanisms, and major connectivity investments, aimed at creating multiple growth centres across India.
